The questions farmers and providers ask us most often, answered plainly. If yours is not here, we are glad to talk it through.

How do I start selling?

Apply on the Sell your livestock page. Once we have reviewed and approved your application, you can offer the animals you would like to sell, and we take care of the rest.

Do I manage my own listings?

No, and you do not need to. Once you have offered your animals, we take care of presenting and selling them to a consistent standard, so that you can concentrate on the animals themselves rather than on running a shop.

When and how am I paid?

Buyers pay The Cattle Exchange, and we settle what is owed to you after each completed sale, with every amount recorded and accounted for. Your banking details are held privately and are never stored on the platform itself.

I run an abattoir or a cutting facility. How do I join?

Apply on the Service providers page. Work involving meat is routed only to registered abattoirs and to facilities holding a Certificate of Acceptability, so we verify the certifications your work requires before routing anything to you.

Does The Cattle Exchange sell meat?

No. The Cattle Exchange sells live animals. Slaughter and cutting, where offered, are optional services a buyer chooses for their own use, carried out on the animal they already own, at registered facilities.
